Non-Autistics with Autistic Brains

Nature is reporting a study that found that people who are not autistic can have similar brain abnormalities to autistic people. The research was focused on amygdala, an area of the brain responsible for emotions, particular fear and pleasure. The amygdala is often smaller than normal in autistics but this study showed the amygdala of non-effected brothers of autistics were also smaller. This suggests that there is not one cause of autism but it requires the coincidence of several neurological factors.
